How to Protect Yourself from the 1 in 5 Florida Motorists Who Are Completely Uninsured

Did you know that roughly 20% of Floridians are currently driving around with no insurance? The best advice I can give you as a personal injury lawyer for the last 27 years is – make sure you carry the right kind of insurance to protect yourself from uninsured/underinsured motorists.

The first thing I would recommend everyone do is make sure you have collision insurance. Collision insurance would cover damage to your car if someone hits you and doesn’t have any insurance. The second thing I would recommend everyone do is to carry uninsured motorist coverage. Uninsured motorist coverage will benefit you if you are injured by someone who has little to no insurance.

Not only are 1 in 5 people driving around with no insurance, there are a number of Florida drivers that have very minimal insurance. This means even if they have insurance they likely don’t have the right kind of insurance to compensate someone for their injuries or damages.
